A Guide To The Custom Process

A custom necklace made by Inca Lily in Mississauga

So, you want something custom, something unique and totally you. But the process isn't clear to you. You've come to the right place! Let me walk you through the whole journey from start to finish:

Step 1: Fill The Form

You have an idea floating around. Maybe it's just a vibe, maybe you have the details figured out down to the last millimeter. Either way, you can fill out the form on the this page or contact me and give me some details about what you're hoping for. Even a simple "I'd like a custom piece in gold" will do!

Step 2: Hammering Down The Details

I'll get you to drop a $100 deposit and we'll schedule a call to get the ball rolling. We'll have a bit of back and forth about metal, any gemstones (if you want them) and of course the design you're looking for. I'll send you a Pinterest board and then some sketches and we'll refine it until you're happy. This part can take about a week but it can be longer depending on how fast your responses are.

Step 3: Wax Printing

I 3D model all my jewellery on the computer first and then print it in wax. At this stage I'll model and print your design and send you progress photos so you can decide whether you like your design in real life. The real thing can be very different from a 2D drawing so I won't move past this step until you're satisfied. I estimate 3-4 weeks for this step but again, speedy replies make the work run smoother.

Step 4: Casting

Once you're happy with the design I'll give you a final price for materials and labor. I take payment in full before casting your piece and sourcing any gemstones. At this point only minor changes can be made to your design, you're pretty much locked in here. This step takes between 3-4 weeks from the time I receive your payment

Step 5: Polishing and Delivery

At this step your piece is pretty much done! I just need to polish and send it to you! Shipping times vary depending on location. You're responsible for any duties during shipping. I ship from Southern Ontario, Canada. Just a reminder that "small batch, slow fashion" is my motto and that means every piece is made with care and attention to detail. I can't compete with the speed of mass manufactured jewellery, but I win by a mile on quality.

And that's everything! Once your piece is home please tell your friends and give me a shout on social media! Your vocal support helps me out a lot. I can't wait to work with you!
